Just reminiscing over my time in India (2007 – 2009) as a live musician. This picture shows my ‘office’ – the small stage at the far end of the tables where I spent most of my working evenings. The restaurant is called the Lobster Shack overlooking the Arabian Sea and is within the Taj Exotica complex.
Among my memories of playing here was one evening when thirty drunken Russian tourists all surrounded me on my little stage and I initially worried for my safety. It was after I had sung a request for them (A Beatles song called Yesterday); all they wanted was a photo with me after which they gave me the biggest tip I have ever received.
When I first began performing here I was plagued by crickets continually jumping into my mouth while I was singing. It turned out that it was because I wore white shirts! – needless to say I went out and bought a collection of coloured shirts. Happy memories.
