Hefalump Hathi

IMG_1219
This little ornament was made for me by my daughter when she was in school during the eighties and over the years it has become a treasured little possession of mine. I call it Hefalump Hathi as a term of endearment, Hathi being the Hindi word for elephant and Hefalump being a lovely children’s word for the same beautiful animal.

Over the years this little treasure has suffered two broken legs which I’ve mended with super glue but I’m so pleased that it wasn’t damaged too badly in storage and transit over the years. I’m tempted to hide it away in my study to protect it but have decided against that because I want people to see it and enjoy it as much as I do. Come dinner parties it will be at table-centre to kick off the chatter 🙂
