Nigel Kennedy

Although I’m probably mainly a folk singer with guitar and harmonica I do have quite a love of classical music, opera and other genres. I forget the year but the first time I came across Nigel Kennedy was one night when I was watching Last Night at the Proms. When he played I was absolutely enchanted but it wasn’t the music that caught my eye so much as his mohican haircut and Doc Martin bovver boots. He looked as though he had just come in from a skinhead meet in Brighton and something about that struck a note with me. Wonderful !!

Woman

She knows what she wants, she has every right, she’s human you know, she’s black she is white. She’s fat, she is thin, she’s fun, she’s a bore, she’s pretty, she’s chapel, she’s a down and out whore. She is rich, she is poor, she is young, she is old, she’s mouthy, she’s placid, she’s warm, she is cold. She’s graceful, she’s clumsy, she’s quiet, she’s loud, she’s a bitch, she’s a saint, she’s a lady, she’s proud. Dignity’s hers for that she will fight. Whatever she is she has every right.
