Right there is the reason I don’t use oil pastel.

Although I have tried oil pastel and oil paint I’ve never been able to use them well. For me, oil paint takes too long to dry and oil pastel just gets all over me. As an illustrator it was always going to be a tall order to move into colour but thankfully when I found acrylics I at least managed to achieve some results. But since my website is about my life in art I like to think I include work that didn’t go well as well as work that did.

  1. Oh yeah.. I remember pastels in art class.. which was always in the mornings.. and I would spend all day covered in coloured dust.. class mates would have fun hitting my blazer to watch a plume of dust fly in the air.. these days its mainly digital stuff in photoshop. I’ve recently had a go of AI art with various levels of success.. I always look forward to the rain, the snow and any kind of weather that gives me the excuse to stay in and play about with creating art.. but then there is the good weather, that allows me to get my camera out, particularly if the night sky is clear..

    1. Sounds as though we speaky the same language, but then some great memories there Alec. Great too that you have both indoor and outdoor art activities going on, there’s no doubt you must enjoy some spectacularly clear nights in your neighbourhood. Must admit I enjoy sketching outdoors in good weather although also enjoy creative recycling. I recently unearthed some small hexagonal slabs at the allotment and created a path in my garden with them which I call thrupenny road. We post a few pics.
